A FRENCH WICKER TRUNK WITH RED METAL BUCKLES

This French wicker trunk is hand woven and dates from the 19th Century. It would have been used to transport or store clothing or other essential items. This meant that the truck (which is made of thick wicker) is structural strong, even today it is very sturdy. The wicker also added a beautiful tactile texture to the trunk as it has created a vivid pattern to run across the side.

Additional information: The trunk is large and is rectangular in shape with an intact and functional wicker lid. On the front there are two bold metal buckles that would have been used to lock the truck, unfortunately today they don´t work but they do add character to it. The bottom of the item is structural good and there is no damage. There was woodworm damage, but this has been treated and the wicker has been re-waxed. This damage is normal because the object is over a 100years old and it would have been used for very enduring work. This truck is a rare find and would look wonderful in any home!

Condition: Wear is consistent with age, but it is in good condition and has been recently restored. Wicker has been treated for wood worm as it had a small amount in it.
