SUITE OF 10 HAVILLAND LIMOGES PORCELAIN CASHMERE GREEN COFFEE CUPS & SAUCERS

500.00

A suite of ten French porcelain teacup and saucer set created by the famous Haviland company of Limoges. Haviland was established when in 1840 a New Yorker called David Haviland, made a trip to France to establish an alliance with a manufacturer. He eventually settled in Limoges in southern France to oversee production which was near the source of the kaolin mines, which produced special white clay unique to Limoges porcelain.
This set of teacup and saucer is decorated in the exquisite pattern of Green Cashmere with hand-applied gold accents around the rims and handles. The undersides of the porcelain have been stamped with Havilands attribution mark “Haviland Limoges, France”. Cashmere is an oriental inspired pattern with a scalloped edge and a Tree of Life inspired central motif. This version is on a white black background.
All of the cups and saucers are in a very good condition. No chips or cracks. I suspect that they have never been used as the gold along the rim and on the handles hasn´t worn away. The gold colouration has blemished in places which is due to age. Wear is consistent with age and usage, but it is in a good condition. See photos for reference as they form part of the condition description.
